What is stored on your device
| Name | Type | What it is for | Lifetime | When it is set |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Cookie | Used by Google Analytics. Google tags use cookies to identify unique users across browsing sessions. | Up to 2 years | Only after you accept analytics. |
_ga_CQ8MSXGEPQ | Cookie | Used by Google Analytics. Google lists its purpose as analytics. | Up to 2 years | Only after you accept analytics. |
ropeshift-analytics-consent | localStorage | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics. It stays on this device and is not sent anywhere. | Until you clear this site's data in your browser. | When you choose Accept analytics or Decline. |
The lifetimes of the Google cookies come from Google's cookie reference.
Before you accept
Nothing from Google loads before you accept, and this site's own code sets no cookies. A banner asks first. If you choose Decline, nothing from Google loads on this visit or the next ones in this browser.
Changing your choice
Use Change analytics choice, here or in the footer of any page, to see the banner again. Choosing Decline after accepting deletes the Google cookies and reloads the page, so analytics is gone.
You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time. See the privacy policy for what analytics records.
